Mist comes over the mountains

Phil and Lorraine
Sue and Ron
Phil, Katie and John

The fog comes over the mountain,
the fog comes over the mountain.......

Yes, we started out in the rain on Friday but it was only a drizzle by the time we set up camp. Lorraine had reserved two adjoining lean-to sites for us. We added tarps to cover the picnic tables and set up the tents. Now where does this polego? This is how to do it. A job well done. Ron got wood for the fires and we were good to go. Before dinner, we dodged the rain drops and took a quick tour down to see the Adams reservoir. What do you think, guys?

Dinner was hot dogs and sausages cooked over an open fire followed bymarshmallows on a stick. Now this is how you do it. Ah, nicely burnt. Yum! But where's mine?

Oh no, stop taking pictures, already! Ha! I can take pictures too! Let's just enjoy the fire. Its a cool nite and hot chocolate is welcome. Right, John? A partners game of Scrabble followed, resulting in a tie game. This is what it's all about. Time for bed, but where is Phils sleeping bag?

Serenity

Some of us got up early on Saturday to see the sun rise over the reservoir. We were greeted by the welcome geese and scoped out the boats for rent. The rest were waking by the time we got back and breakfast ensued. Lorraine fixed a great breakfast of bacon, steak and eggs. Mmmm......

The calm that morning brings

After breakfast, the Phils took a hike around the lake and the rest of us rented a canoe and a kayak. Water sports followed. John wins the toss and is first in the kayak. Is it my turn, yet? I'll help you, mom. Ron gets points for a romantic canoe ride.

The bones of the resevoir. Who put this picture way out here? OK, we're done. When's lunch?

A medieval lunch of cold cuts, cheese and fruit was toped off by naps for all. Well, you could use a tent. Caramel! Where did you wander off to?Watch out!

Oooh, green things....

Another game of Scrabble ended off the afternoon. Katie wins! but is DJ really a word? More marshmallows and a round of Movie Trivia lasted into the dark of night. No complaints from the neighbors though.

Happy campers, one and all.

Another morning and will someone ple-e-ease make the coffee? Donuts it is, with bacon and eggs for the more disciplined members of the group. Time to break camp. Somebody really should pack up all this gear. Somebody who wants to get home to the computer should pack up all this gear. Somebody finished all shes going to do.

Pretty pretty ferns

All cleaned out and ready for the next lucky camper.

We were only 10 miles from Bennington, and the sites we didn't see included Bennington Pottery, the Battle Monument, a covered bridge, Hemmings Motor News, and the Park-McCullough Mansion.

Ready for next year?
